About Me

Walking is a great way of keeping fit and getting the creative juices flowing. When I am out walking I find myself transported to a place where I am thinking up my next sewing project, with mixed media textile art, dressmaking or soft furnishings.

My interest in sewing started from a very young age. Inspired by my Grandmother who made clothes for her 9 children. I spent a lot of my holidays as a child making clothes under her watchful eye.

It was no surprise that I decided to move into a world of creativity and went onto to study a Fashion Diploma where I achieved A levels and City and Guilds in Textile, Art and Fashion. I went to University to study a BA Hons in Textile Design, which enabled me to study fabric construction as well as Fashion and soft furnishings.

After university I started work in the Textile industry working with the latest CAD design software. This led to design and marketing in the Textile Industry working with many well known names.

When my daughter came along I decided to change career direction and trained to become a teacher. My PGCE led me to teaching Design and Technology along with Art and Design in secondary schools. I worked with students to enable them to produce a wide range of products for home and fashion. I also worked with various exam boards and  worked freelance. I now run a small business using my Textile design and sewing skills and try where possible to upcycle and recycle to incorporate  treasured materials.
